GEOG 4030: Discard Studies
I taught this 4th-year undergraduate course in the winter of 2023. A large part of my effort was to redesign the syllabus to accommodate some existing issues. Besides learning the basics of waste and various ecological and socioeconomic impacts, students in the class learned various concepts e.g. environmental racism, and circular and bio-economy. This course was a seminar-based course and hence, was designed in such a way as to facilitate discussion.
ENVP 6002: Research Design and Methods
Along with Dr. Garrett Richsrds, I co-taught the research design and method course, which was part of the Master of Arts in Environmental Policy (MAEP) program at Grenfell Campus. The syllabus includes an introduction to graduate research, engaging with literature, research questions, research methodology, hands-on methods workshops, and writing up and dissemination of findings.
ENVR 3250 A01: Environmental Assessment
I worked as a lab instructor in the Department of Environment and Geography, at the University of Manitoba for the Environmental Assessment (undergraduate) course in 2020. I mostly conducted lab sessions with 40 students on various topics. Students were assigned in groups to conduct lab assignments led by me and I was responsible for grading those assignments. During the lab sessions, we discussed ideas on the scope of their project and assessment, descriptions of projects and in the context of the respective environment, identification and assessment of potential impacts, etc.
GEOG 4350/ REC4350 Parks & Protected Areas Planning and Management
I opted for the course while I was a graduate student and worked as a Teaching Assistant during my PhD at the Natural Resources Institute. In addition to classroom teaching, I assisted the course instructor in conducting field sessions, coordinating with guest speakers, and grading students for their participation in the course besides engaging and sharing the list of activities for the following day.
